User Research from The Heartland

November 6th, 2009

As a User Interface Designer, I always crave seeing my designs being used by real people. Ideally, every project I work on would have a user testing sessions before, during and after design. But not all clients have a budget for this kind of research. That’s why I’m keen on some good, ‘ole fashioned usability research from Kansas.

Wichita State University has a Software Usability Research Lab that publishes free monthly reports on software/website user interface design, usability testing, and research in human-computer interaction. Basically, it’s the next closest thing to having my own lab.

And with articles like “Eye Movement Analysis of Text-Based Web Page Layouts,” what’s not to love? (Never mind the dated logo. The research is excellent!)
